Brian Oswald is a junior at an all boys Catholic high school, and his best friend, Gretchen, is a slightly overweight punk girl with dyed pink hair. Brian's parents are going through a slow but steady separation while Gretchen's mother recently passed away. Brian is deeply in love with Gretchen, but she's interested in an older man. They are trying to find their place in the world and truly feel as though they belong.
sometimes i wish i had the guts to chop my hair and dye it a ridiculous color... but i'm not that brave.
