Arnold Spirit, a.k.a. Junior, lives on a poor Indian Reservation in Washington State. He gets so frustrated when he sees that he has to use the same text book as his mother that he throws a fit. This causes a teacher to convince Junior to attend the rich white school in neighboring Reardan. Junior goes through the drama of a new school, complete with loosing his best friend, Rowdy, but triumphs in the end.
